MOSCOW, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Recent attacks with the use of ransomware WannaCry was a test to reveal vulnerabilities of companies from different industries, Andrei Krutskikh, a special envoy of the Russian president for international cooperation in information security, said on Tuesday, business daily Vedomosti reported.

“Let’s take a recent attack via WannaCry: 150 countries, small damage, as it seems, but it was a test. I can tell you in advance that far more serious attacks are ahead,” Krutskikh said.

WannaCry infected multiple computers all over the world and encrypted data. Victims were offered to pay about U.S. $66,000 to decode information.
